Damage assessment will begin following a severe weather event at the discretion of the OEM. The usual procedure is to have a pre-deployment briefing at or near the OEM. Net Control will advise damage assessment team members of the time and location of the briefing asap. Net Control or the Emergency Coordinator will assign an individual to be a safety and accountability officer before the teams are deployed.
Damage assessment operations will be conducted on a frequency to be determined by the Emergency Coordinator or alternate. Since the severe weather event is usually over by the time the teams are deployed, the primary Skywarn repeater makes a good choice.
